Painted Mirror-Girls Bedroom

Hi Everyone,

So as I mentioned in the previous post, this mirror was way to dark for her bedroom so I painted it a gray to match the general color scheme of her room.

I used Miss Mustardseed Milk paint and distressed a little around the edges and finished off with Ann Sloan Wax.

Now off to do more DIY projects and finish school projects.

Vintage, Girlie Bedroom-Part 1

Hi Everyone,

 Sorry for the long absence. Between school functions, Spring Break and preparing for Montessori Night this Mom hasn't had much time to dedicate to the blog. So today I started thinking of Jordan's big girl bedroom. I recently, infact way to fast, sold her crib. I have yet to purchase her bed, so for now she is sleeping in the guest bedroom. I recently spotted a headboard which I am thinking I will reupholster and paint, but haven't yet decided...

So this is what I know for sure will be in her bedroom. This vintage wing chair, which I reupholstered here in a cream linen fabric.

  This dresser, which I will probably leave untouched...

I think these are the fabrics and colors I will use in the room.  I love all neutrals, white, cream, gray but also loving the yellow and gray combination.  By the way, these chevron/ikat fabric pillows are available in my Etsy Store.

So at this point I have the basic color scheme/style and most of the furniture pieces.  I am still undecided about the headboard, paint on walls and rug. All fun stuff to mull over.  Please check in with me tomorrow for the painted mirror reveal, using Miss Mustard paint.

Painted, Distressed Table

Hi Readers,

Hope your weekend was great!  We did a fair amount including visiting Kidzexplore, fun entertainment for the girls, but more of that later.  Today I wanted to share my table makeover, from a honey stained table to a painted piece.  In a earlier post I showed the after, but wanted to share with you all the process.

Here is the Before Picture

I used  two paint colors from Benjamin Moore, Ballet white and a combination of brown  and ballet white for a little depth.  I also added minwax between the paint layers if an area looked too pale. For that added rustic look I chipped the table just a bit on the edges and filled them in with the dark stain minwax.  I used just a paint brush I had on hand, nothing fancy.  After I was satisfied with the overall look I added the Ann Sloan Wax to complete the project.  The wax really makes such a difference in giving a painted piece a great professional look and the application is so effortless.  I give this product excellent reviews!

So there you have it.  This painted piece took me  a couple of hours to complete and I personally love the look.

Distressed Footstool with Handmade Pillow

Readers,

While putting together our guest bedroom, thought I would add this cute footstool, long forgotten in the storage room.  This footstool needed  a quick fix and a little paint.  I distressed the furniture using latex flat paint a combination of both white and off-white and distressed with fine sandpaper.  After drying I added Ann Sloan Wax.  The pillow is made of linen, my favorite fabric for  decor projects and  hot glued rosettes (tutorial here).  This cute footstool is at the end of the bed for now, but I might move it as time goes by.  Take a look at some pics of my low budget foot stool makeover...It probably cost about $5.00 to redo.  Hopefully this will inspire you all to take out an old piece of furniture and make it your own work of art.
